5 years of keeping noodling stats on 20 cent coins has yielded these results:
1966 Wavy Baseline - 1 out of 1147 coins found = 0.09% 2004 Large Head - 35 out of 2971 coins found = 1.18% 2010 Bubble - 31 out of 3424 coins found = 0.91%
2008 Wave Gap - 41 out of 3218 coins examined = 1.27% There seems to be very little interest in this variety so I stopped looking for it quite a while ago.
1981 3.5 claws - 64 out of 322 coins examined = 19.88% I stopped looking for this variety a long time ago because they are way too common and only sought after in high grades.

I've not heard of the 2008 and 2010 varieties you mentioned.
Could you post pictures of a normal and the cvariety, please ?

@ MachinMachinMan ... would be interested to see if you have also kept a record of rotated/upset 20 cent coins?

I have found many examples of all of the varieties. I eventually bought a 2010 bubble, having never found one in Perth. And - I have only ever seen a picture of the 1981 with a dot over the R in Australia. That's the holy grail for me. I would love to find one.

The variations I know of are 1966 - Wavey 1966 - Gap in the swirl 1981 - Canadian Claw 1981 - Dot above the R 2004 - Large head pointy A 2004 - Rotated ( there are apparently many years where rotations have been found) 2007 - Thick or thin number 7 2010 - Bubble

Anyone else noticed that if you spell out Twenty Cent a link is automatically created to a US 20 cent coin. Quote: would be interested to see if you have also kept a record of rotated/upset 20 cent coins I have checked every 2001 and 2014 20 cent coin that has come my way (over 3000 of each) ever since I heard about upsets being found for those years. Slightly upset (10-15 degrees or so) 2001 20 cent coins are pretty common. I never kept a tally because I am only interested in more obviously upset coins like you can find on the 2001 one dollar coin. Never found any upset 2014 at all. So my official count of upset 20 cent coins (greater than say 30 degrees) stands at a big fat 0.

Well done on finding one wavy!
I'm not sure why the 2008 gap doesn't get much love either as it's quite a scarce coin.

Regarding the 1981 20cent with the dot above the 'R', is it the Canadian minted 3and a half claw variety or the RAM coin? Still have to look at the date anyway but curious to know which it is, have not heard of this coin either. Cheers.

Looking at the lettering of the picture above, I would say it is a RAM and not Canadian

If David could have your luck! You found a wavy 1966 in 1100 coins, he's done nearly 10k and still not found it!
Sounds great though, what do you do with all the uninteresting 20 cent coins?

Actually I've noodled almost 72,000 20 cent coins of which 1150 were 1966 and one of those 1150 was a wavy. So at the rate David's going he's got another 6 years or so of noodling to do yet!!!
