Hello all, I have a 1999 penny that is in great condition that has what appears to be a die crack in Lincoln's head along with the "W" in "We" of in God we trust. I was wanting to make sure that it is a so called "Cracked Skull Penny" and was wanting everyone's opinion! I have a photos below of the penny; Front, Back, and side by side of of a 1999 regular penny on the left and the die crack on the right. Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Very nice spike head and unusual crack! It looks like it may even extend down his face onto the cheek. It's not listed on COC either. Here is a link. http://cuds-on-coins.com/lincoln-ce...s-1990-1999/

@jtc, with that pattern of cracks, I'd probably call it a spike head *and* a cracked skull. Will you save it in a 2x2?

Nice die crack. Very dramatic. I'd save it for sure.

Is this what you were talking about going into his face?

also the die crack is going down into the back of his head/hair as well.

@Spence and yes I will be saving it for my collection. It is the first spiked head/cracked skull I have found! If I ever decide to let it go, I will let everyone on here at the forum know about it before putting it anywhere else!

Yes it is, thanks. What I saw on the cheek may just be damage but it goes down to his eye. Very cool!
