Had this piece come in a collection, it passes my XRF and I can match up variations in the denticles to known real graded examples but of course it seems too good to be true, thoughts?

@wom, first welcome to CCF. Second, it would be super nice if it is real. Was there any sort of purchasing documentation or pedigree in that collection?

It doesn't look right to me. Looks like some of the coins I see on ebay from sellers in Eastern Europe. Same kind of man-made toning; weak devices such as the dots; weak inscriptions such as the th in 25th.
If it's silver, it's not an obvious fake, but I've read some of these higher value coins are produced by counterfeiters in silver. Might be interesting to see if the silver content is .86 fine or not.

That's interesting that the silver content is spot on.
Toning still gives me the heebee-jeebies, bur maybe it's worth sending in for authentication?
