Hi, I found this coin underneath the seat of my car today. I don't know much about error coins, but it looks like a doubled die on the very bottom of Washington's neck Is that correct? Also, I can't find anything at all online about any other 1982 quarters that have this error.

Looks like vending machine damage. Note it is flat.

Ot doesn't look that flat to me, and it follows the line of the bottom of the neck doesn't it? I'm not saying your wrong, but it would be a bummer if your right #128527;

to CCF. I agree with machine damage,vending-counting-wrapping etc. You can see more of the damage on the IN and above, in IN GOD WE TRUST.

@coino, when @coop says "flat" I think he means with respect to the height off of the surface of the coin. Yes it is curves and roughly follows the curve of Washington's bust, but it is an area of mechanically-scraped off metal. This isn't a mint error.

I'm thinking coin Rolling Machine Damage. A full (large and sharp) image of the coin's obverse may tell us more.

Ever wonder why not all of the coin is not affected equally?
Because the wrapping machine only affects the raised devices/designs. The fields most often are not affected. (When there is a big span of fields, they can be altered) Just depends on how crimped the roll is.
