I was wondering if someone could tell me if this is real and if it is what is this worth? The lines are raised not pushed into it.

Looks like a knife cut. Looks like the cut is at an angle which raised the metal on one side of the cut.

Looks like a genuine Lincoln Cent with real damage as suggested by sheldius.

to the CCF

As that could not have happened during the striking of the coin, it is damage.
It would only be worth a couple of dollars without damage so with damage it
wouldn't be worth much more than the copper value.

Question. The linear features, are they raised, or incuse, or both (gash with raised edges)?

I agree, a post mint damaged coin. Any numismatic value is now gone with this intentional scratch. Keep searching!

The reason it looks like it is raised, is because when the coin was cut, the angle of the knife was at a sharp angle. If the coin was rotated, you could see that this one done. The image was take at an angle to make it look like it was raised, when it really isn't. Face value now.

Interesting, I thank you for all of your opinions. Actually I have three coin here with me. There is no cut and it is all completely raised up. Both lines. And it's missing a letter. What do you guys think? Still fake? If so I will just use it. If not I would like to know.

@sqish, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree that the letter X was cut into the surface of this coin. Otherwise it was a pretty nice, early Wheat cent. Now it is only a placeholder until you can get a better example.

Added: As @half, mentioned, please start a new thread for each new coin.

Give us some strong close-ups of both sides of one of the raised lines.
