Hi Folks,

I am regularly finding newer dimes with depressions in the bands on the torch that line up with the outside grooves in torch. I have found it on both sides of the torch and on individual bands. Below are several examples from different coins. Any ideas what is causing this?

Thanks in advance, Eric

Circulation. The highest spots prevent coin wear on the shallow areas. Just life for the coin is altered in circulation. Note the tops of the design you can see die flow running towards the rim. Normal for an aging die issue. Circulation flattening on the raised devices.

Hi Coop,

I understood that, I was specifically referring to the indentations on the top bands on the torch near the outside edges. They just seem too lined up with the torch grooves

Thanks Eric
