vud091, good morning, there are some in the numismatic community which would only get upset, LOL, stating that terminology is very important, I have been corrected toooo many times, the term is Doubled Die, you "know "how some will get, have a great day, answer to your question, I do not know of any but that does not mean there are not some out there, maybe the Pro's will chime in, be well, Mike

vud091, this is a 1967 Special Mint Set Kennedy half dollar. On the obverse you can see minor doubling on the motto, We Trust. The reverse shows doubling on the legend letters and outer row of stars. It does happen, how often, I'm not sure.

i would like everyone to look at this I found and tell me if it is real and thanks everyone for your comments "A VERY NEW VARIETY LISTED ON COOPERCOINS:
1955 DDO-4 / DDR-1
1955 Lincoln Wheat penny that shows NICE EXTRA THICKNESS DOUBLING ON THE DATE AND "IN GOD WE TRUST". THIS IS ALSO A DOUBLED DIE REVERSE , WITH EXTRA RHICKNESS ON THE DOTS, THE MOTTO, AND SOME SEPARATION ON THE OUTSIDE WHEAT STEMS. THE COPPERCOINS WEB SITE DOES NOT PRESENT AN EARLY DIE STATE EXAMPLE FOR THIS VARIETY. I BELIEVE THIS MAY WELL BE THE FIRST ONE REPORTED, AS THIS COIN CAME FROM A BU ROLL WITH A VERY NICE STRIKE, DETAILS, AND NONE OF THE MARKERS MENTIONED FOR THE LATTER STATE KNOWN EXAMPLES. RARE VARIETY FOR A POPULAR DATE AND THE DESCRIMINATING COLLECTOR.
AS WITH ALL MY VARIETY COINS, THIS IS A GENUINE DOUBLED DIE, NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH STRIKE/MACHINE DOUBLING."

Hi,

The description is accurate but that doesn't mean that your coin is necessarily the same as the description.

It takes a trained eye to match up the diagnostics. Most people, for example confuse the blurriness on the obverse of a 1955 era cent as being caused by a doubled die when it is a case of extreme die wear.

Pictures of the coin in question would be a great help.

Thanks,
Bill

Hi,

Off the top of my head, there is a nice DDO / DDR on a 2004 cent.

There are also examples of Eisenhower dollars that are DDO / DDR coins.

There are others but these come to mind fairly quickly.

Thanks,
Bill
