Also, what causes this uneven area I've circled. Thanks all!

Actually this is an infamous case of copper deterioration around the mintmark making it look like a rpm. The circled area seems to be a striking issue. I know others will chime in here.

Your first image seems to show a split plating issue with the zinc showing through the copper plating.

The other anomaly on the obverse and reverse is interesting and it's not clashed dies, so I'm leaning towards it being an issue with the planchet.

Thanks- I see the plate issue. Was wondering about the doubling on the MM?

Not sure the uneven areas would be a planchet issue because of the near same occurrence on this coin.

Nice example of mint mark split plating. Die Deterioration going on too--note the obverse Ridge Ring passing through I G W T.

On this coin the split plating on the mintmark area was caused by the Machine Doubling. These images show that the MD split the plating on the upper areas. (most often we see just the lower loop affected) And on this coin the lower loop is also showing the split plating. Which is the normal affected areas.

A little help on the second part, Coop. The areas the OP circled, what's your take on that?
