I'm not a fan of the bell lines and the full steps ideas. Seems like they are subject to their call. When I look to see the differences, they are to iffy for me. But the grading fees to me would probably cost as much as you could get back from the coin on PCGS. High grade examples of FBL drop drastically.
1949-D FBL MS-66 $5750.00
1949-D FBL MS-65 $400.00
1949-D FBL MS-64 $120.00
Nothing listed on higher than MS-64 on the normal without the FBLs:
1949-D MS-64 $84.00 (Cost $50 for grading fees leaving a profit of $34.00 for your coin)
1949-D AU-58 $42.00 (Cost $50 for grading fees leaving a LOSS OF -8.00 for your coin)
1949-D AU-55 $35.00 (Cost $50 for grading fees leaving a LOSS OF -15.00 for your coin)
So unless you hit the jackpot on these, you would loose money if they were not a high grade coin. So the graders are the ones making the money. As a buyer, I pay nothing extra for a coin. And I still would make sure their grade is correct. So that is what you are up against. Some will look at a coin and grade it, but not consider, a nick in the coin, a scrape. That drops the value quickly. One incuse mark can turn a coin into a cull. So self grading needs to consider this as well. It tough to decide what to do. Just trying to show you the opposite side of the coin, the selling/grading issues. (Not making no offers, as the forum is not the place for this) Just helping you to consider this.
