My current 1916-D example came from my local coin shop generic Walker bin. It's AG-3 at best but the price was right at about $12. Wanted a nicer coin and found this one at the Fresno show. What do you think?

I misread your title and thought I was going to see one from your UNcirculated set. A little disappointing but nice coin regardless.&

F details. the circular mark on the right side of the obverse field looks like it could have been made with a metal punch

Panzaldi, the obverse mark is not a perfect circle and there is no reverse flattening that would be expected if the mark had been punched in. My guess is that there was a void or dent in the planchet and the mark is "as struck". Could be wrong but I'm optimistic it's not PMD. Thanks everyone for your comments.
