I'm not an error/variety collector but here's my 2 cents...
Great question. The service would have to be inexpensive as it seems many error/varieties do not carry a large premium.

I don't have any interest in errors or varieties so I'm a no.

I would and this help further enhance collectors knowledge of spotting real error and varieties vs. fakes, with reasonable fees and time. Maybe another color bean?

I voted Maybe. I think that one of the most reputable and most recognized grading companies, for example, ANACS PCGS NGC ICCS should pick up this service and to some extent they already do. There are a ton of minor doubled dies and re-punched mint marks out there but most have little value to justify the cost of this service. I have very little interest in minor doubled dies and minor RPM's. There are people out there with books, websites. and on CCF that can attribute a number to them via good images. For me that would be good enough. Those classics that appear in the RedBook are pretty much attributed by the major grading companies as things are now. They are the same that interest me the most. It would take a lot of money and time for a "New" slab grader to establish such a reliable reputation and popularity to make a real go of it.

That would be nice to see, but I wonder if it could "piggyback" off an already established TPG but now included as a separate but cohesive subset? I collect all kinds of mint flaws that I can.

I think that @nfine brings up a good point about the generally small premium brought by so many of the errors we see. For sure there are a few big ones that would be well worth it, but how would someone justify slabbing for a BIE? It is a cool concept, but I'd want more information about the business plan and pricing structure.

My answer depends on what qualifies as "support". Would I like for it to be created? Yes. Would I pay any money for it to be created (and/or continue working)? Probably not.

Not enough quantities to make it worth the cost.

I think ANACS does a fairly solid job already with a lot of things, but there is always opportunity for innovation with the niche for those who get really into the subtle stuff. I'm always game to support those who aim to provide better quality for a lower price. Capitalism thrives because of these entrepreneurs.
I think that a lot of volume will be in varieties that don't bring much of a premium, so the operator might need to understand that marketing at even ANACS pricing might not bring the volume. It's going to have to be an efficient operation all the way through.

Maybe. I wouldn't submit things to them, and personally I don't think such a service is really needed, but I might consider investing in the company because there are a TON of people out there who think their damaged coins are errors/varieties and the company could make a lot of money just telling them No, and not having to provide any real service. And from putting a LOT of minor errors/varieties in holders at prices well more than the coins are worth.

There may be a few, I know of one one, who provides variety attribution to existing slabbed coins. He places a small information sticker label on the back that has the "pick up point" imaged. And charges a reasonable amount for his service.

It's an interesting idea. I've handled coins attributed by Variety Slabbing Service, and they seem spot on with attributions. Definitely a niche business, but a needed one. How would you envision the attributions? A sticker like VSS or a full slab? Would it be a stand-alone service or an adjunct to one of the existing TPGs?
