Here is another recent purchase, although I do need to get the RPD attributed. I just wanted to see what the forum members thought of her. Thank you for your interest and comments!

I'm not entirely convinced that the obverse has been cleaned.

I tend to agree about being unsure if the obverse was cleaned . You have to admit to the two different skins .Yes , it can be the way it was stored throughout the years or other factors .In that condition I doubt it was a folder coin .

I think it's the FS-301 RPD I am concerned with the surface disparities on the obverse, the scuff lines on the portrait, the spots around the mouth, and field behind Liberty's head. Just looks messed with to me. Otherwise it's a nice coin that might grade AU58 without the issues, I don't think it will go better than AU Details. Looks more like the areas of damage happened through an acetate slide like in a Dansco or Whitman album.

EDIT: Could the difference in toning be storage in a coin board, rather than a coin album? The early Meghrig boards and Wayte Raymond boards had sliding sleeves and solid backs.

A solid AU58, possible old light cleaning but otherwise a nice looking example.

I will have to agree with the AU Details, cleaned crowd. Surfaces look like they have been messed with, IMO

Quote: fortcollins: The early Meghrig boards and Wayte Raymond boards had sliding sleeves and solid backs. Interesting I did not no that fact. I have had quite a few of each brand and all of them had acetate slides on both the obv. and rev. sides of the pages. I never got David Lange's Coin Album books either, I do know David and many years ago I gave him a bunch of old albums and weird little Savings & Loan bank folders for Christmas dimes I had picked up. We used to hang out a together at the ANA Summer Seminars way before NGC was a glimmer on the horizon.
