Looking for some expertise on this V nickel I picked up a while back. I was thinking this is a strikethrough, but not sure how to tell the difference between legitimate strikethrough or just damage. Opinions and perhaps an approx. value of the coin? Thanks, as always I greatly appreciate and value the help!

well shucks lol. I picked it up for $2 at a local auction that had some coins from an old collector that passed away. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it!

Yep, I say wire cutters did this. I am not really sure how to describe in detail what a strikethrough looks like. Try googling strikethrough images and look at many different examples.

The giveaway on this one is the damage is on both sides at the same spot.
