Hi there, I have compared and researched this coin and I think this one hits the parameters.. it is lighter than the other ones I have of that year and the numbers on the date appear to be correct.

I had a bit of a time figuring out how to post photos, but I hope they are ok and thank you to the members for putting up with an newbie asking questions. On a side note, how many questions am I allowed to ask. :)
I'd appreciate the input about this one please and thank you.

. It is a small date. Looks like a copper plated zinc core but you will need to weigh it.

Does it need to be brass or is the zinc D the ONE?

I Will be getting a proper scale. However I was able to determine that it was lighter than the rest using the food scale I have which not accurate enough.
I will also be getting a better magnifier, but I have about 10 other ones for that year and it was the only one that was different.

Thank you for looking

Appears to be zinc core. The small date D copper (not zinc) is the big ticket example.

2.5 grams is a zinc cent. The Copper small date Denver are the ones everyone wants to find.

Your research has paid off. Yes, your cent is indeed a small date '82. As mentioned, your "lighter" coin is zinc. If you find a small date Denver mint, copper version, you will have hit the jackpot. If you do, you're buying lunch for all of us here!

Lol Yes I would definitely be buying lunch for each and everyone of you LOL. Thank you for your time, I'm going to get a much better scale but I can tell it's lighter. It also feels different and it has a different sheen to it than any of my copper coins
so I am happy I that I had properly assessed the coin before I posted it. It's hard not to convince yourself you found the big one, so I definitely will be double checking the other 1982 pennies I have.

It would've been pretty awesome if it was though.

As to a scale, get one like this (not recommending this seller though) https://www.ebay.com/itm/2027430363...BFBMrtDX1KVf
Best if scale goes down to 0.001 grams.
