Good Morning All,

I finally got through my pile of 1982 pennies (no luck on the jackpot), but I did have a 1982-P small date copper that's misaligned. I've noticed that usually the misaligned pennies don't hold any extra value, but thought I'd double check with this one.

Thank you

@tre, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with your diagnosis of MAD. As the tops of the letters are right up to the edge of the coin, I'd probably save it in a 2x2. It is a great example to keep for reference!

That's what I had thought but wanted to double check. Still learning. Thank you!

A fine example of a MAD coin. If the devices start falling off the edge of the coin is when premiums start going up.

2x2x it and save that puppy

Nice MAD, but I believe it is a large date.

Welcome to the forum. Neat find and example of a MAD. As Tunnioc stated above, your Cent is a large date, not a small date.

On the opposite side of the coin, there should be a weakness on the area where the devices are close to the edge. So far I'm not seeing that. If it is not there, then it is just a close to the edge MAD and not showing the devices falling over the edge. Here is an example:

Note how the devices are over the edge, then note on the reverse, the weakness of the design on the opposite side. Without the weakness, it just a normal coin. Just a close MAD example. Border line. But it could be there? Just not seeing it on the reverse devices?

My apologies you're correct. The placement of the die was throwing me off.

You might save it as an example of an almost collectable to show to a new collector. Start a tube to hold these educational pieces to show to a new collector. Then bring them out to show what is and what is not a collectable. (Getting you to start your own educational coins to show to new ones, training you to also be a teacher)
