You posted this for opinions at 11:01 PM yesterday and because nobody responded within 41 minutes we are now all a bunch of snobs? In case you do decide to come back and read this, there are many fine folks willing to share their knowledge if you give them a fair chance. Please have a little more patience.

I would give my opinion, but I guess it's not valid because it took me more than 40 minutes to see this post.
I guess the OP wants people to opine, even if they may not be well versed in the subject the OP is seeking an answer to.

I was referring to the 8 people that had already looked at it. I wouldnt complain about nobody leaving a reply if nobody looked at it. Me personally if I take the time to look at a post and a picture I would give an honest reply. Not a big deal I'm over it I am heavy I to pennies but this past year have purchased alot of silver eagles. Pennies took me two years before I even started to know anything. 5 years later and I started silver eagles working on a perfect ms70 collection and never really thought about looking for double die on already graded PCGS coins ive purchashed assuming if its graded and not labled as a double than why look for it. I was posting a couple satin/burnished westpoint minted NGC ms 70s and noticed so.ething that made me start looking so I go to my 1998 PCGS coin for a baseline of what it should look like and that eagle has doubling on liberty and the date. This does not look like Machine Doubling at all. I just wanted some other input but I'm sorry several people lookimg at the picture and left no reply was like why bother. Its not like I am going to send PCGS an email asking if its possible they made a mistake. Still not one honest reply I didnt call anybody snobs but the 8 people that looked and left no reply. To me thats absurd.

@Penny4yourthough: It's important to understand that CCF is a forum not an instant messaging exchange - members here interact over time. There are many very knowledgeable volunteer collectors and dealers here who are regular visitors/contributors but who don't visit everyday. Time is needed for these folks to see a post and reply to it, if they can. If you look around CCF, you will see many threads with high "Read" counts and low/very low "Replies" counts. This is not uncommon, it's the nature of this type of forum. You've asked a question that requires experience beyond that of a beginner or casual collector. After reading posts with these types of questions, many folks often will not respond as they do not have solid knowledge of an answer. Do you really want the opinion of someone who doesn't actually know about the subject matter? Personally, I don't reply to a thread unless I am confident in the accuracy of my reply - I don't want to contribute to the internet spread of misinformation. All that said, from the image provided, your coin appears to exhibit Mechanical Doubling (also called Machine Doubling) vs. a doubling on the die. Such doubling is a production issue vs. a die issue. (Note 1: Here's a link to a good discussion of this doubling: Double Dies vs. Machine Doubling.) (Note 2: Additional images/views of the area might change my opinion.) This type of doubling does not generally carry a premium in the market and is not attributed by reputable grading services. Others with more expertise in this area might offer other thoughts. Good luck!

Also doesn't help that at 11:01 you only posted a picture of a coin with a description "Silver Eagle Picture Of Date. Doubled Die?". I don't know what you were expecting with no further questions or description. You only gave us more description 38 min after the post was made and then gave members 4 min to respond. 4 min will not get any good responses. Your topic is more of" Double die " than a question. Now if you wrote, Is this a double die?, then I can give a valid opinion. Regardless its a neat doubling. Another point is that you don't mention the grading company. PCGS has its own pricing for Error coins. So unless you list it as error and pay the fee then it wont be graded as such. You pay the grading company to grade and authenticate your coins, not look thru and see if its an error coin. I doubt many people will comment on this topic due to the hostility from OP. You can view these topics without being a member as well. People like to browse what is interesting to them and if they want to leave a comment then they can, regardless if its the expertise or not. If I left a comment every time I looked at a topic then a simple few min browse would be like an hour ordeal and if I don't have anything to contribute what do you want me to say? Yes, No, Hello, Cool.

Well, I guess that commems and coincollector123 covered the issues quite well.
I have nothing more to say about this coin at all, but instead felt 'required' to leave a comment because I looked at this topic.

I like to look at threads but my knowledge is pretty limited. Guess I should have replied. I believe this to be a super double die first edition signed coin. There were only 9 of these released into the wild!!! Congrats!

This thread went way off the rails. Looks like Machine Doubling. When you post please include full cropped pictures of both sides. We can get a better idea of what's going on.
