Very post-strike damage. May have spent a good deal of time in a parking lot--maybe on the fringe where old asphalt and dirt are found.

@lam, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree that this is all damage rather than a mint error.

That is what is known as a parking lot coin.
There is no way that could happen during the striking of the cent.

Mint damage or post mint damage is the same thing. It doesn't matter wear it occurred, It happened After it was struck. Damage is damage.

Thank you all for taking your time to answer my question. I have watched video on mint damage during strikes vs. PMD and I still have trouble discerning the tell between, I do appreciate this forum and all the members in the community. Cheers!

99% of incuse marks on coins is coin damage. Only 1% are mint errors. So it there is a lot of incuse marks on the coin, it probably spent some time being tortured in a garage.

To CCF , sorry for being a little late on this ,old age made a call on me a few days ago . Anyway if that coin was certified a genuine mint error it would be worth a lot of money . unfortunately it is not . Your coin has been through heck and back and then stomped on a few times .
Sorry about the automatic censure in place .
