I received a1924 Mercury dime in change today. It was amazing enough to get it in change but with a possible die error is unreal. Question is is it a die error or post date damage? Thanks for your opinion.

@rke, that is a super find for face value. If you are talking about those intersecting scratches that look a bit like a letter X, then that is damage.

Looks like it was intentionally scratched onto the coin.
Just makes it worth bullion value now which is still a
good find in the wild.
