This plastic had been hung on a wall for a very long time. A wire wrapped in string holding it up. The patent was given for the plastic in 1961. The card inside the plastic reads: JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY 1917-1963 "...and so my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country."
A perfectly cut hole in the card with this 1964 Kennedy half dollar in it. The card is the exact thickness as the coin. The plastic browned from years of cigarette smoke but the card on the inside perfectly white. I put the coin in a different plastic so I could clean the Capital plastic it was displayed in. These pictures are of the coin but its not in the plastic I am describing that it came in. Any information on the coin or the described case appreciated. I will add the pic of the coin now and will take a picture of the Capital plastic PATENT 2998126 that it came in asap.

If the photos were taken using 'neutral' lighting, and the apparent toning is accurate, I think it's rather cool. I have no clue about the nature of the plastic holder.

@humble, it looks to me like patent number 2,988,126 was issued by the USPTO on August 29,1961 to the inventor, a Mr. Paul W. Jenkins. It references a few other styles of early coin holders as prior art. One interesting aspect of the patent is that this holder could house mint sets without removing those coins from the mint packaging.

I'm not sure to whom exactly, but this sort of numismatic ephemera is probably worth something to someone.

Nice Mint State Business Strike . Toned nicely or the cigarette smoke seeped into the plastic holder .
