Well known online dealer has basically cut off communications after failure to deliver. Payment via ACH. I'm talking about a multi-thousand dollar purchase by me. Order was "shipped" on 12/3. I gave them some time due to labor slowdowns, holiday, weather, etc but on 12/13 emailed/called the company because I was concerned. Was informed that because I did not inquire within a 7-day window from day one of USPS tracking, any claim will be denied, "no further communication from Provident regarding this issue will be made." That's all, folks! Beware that "fully insured and signature delivery" is not worth a hill of beans when it comes down to it. My buddy who works for USPS investigated and told me they never even had a scan on the package, never received it. Been a loyal customer for ten years and tens of thousands in purchases. Not quite given up on this but I can't believe all the bad reviews lately. Beware. When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

Call them. Posting here, while helps with venting, is not a solution.

From their website: "When we ship to you, if metals are lost or damaged in transit, it is our responsibility to pursue any claim with the insurance company. If we determine the package is lost or damaged, we file a claim. We reserve the right to re-ship your items or refund your money at our discretion."
I could find no reference to a requirement that you contact them within 7 days of the tracking number.
I would pursue the fact that the tracking number does not show delivered, and obviously was not signed for.
Keep us posted.

Also from the website: If a package becomes lost in transit, it is your responsibility to notify Provident Metals of this within seven (7) days of the last in transit tracking scan. While Provident Metals will make reasonable efforts to locate the package, Provident Metals will not be held liable for packages lost in transit without notice within seven (7) days of the last in transit tracking scan. You are solely responsible for any packages, along with the contents and monetary value thereof, that are lost in transit without notification to Provident Metals within seven (7) days of the last in transit tracking scan.

Have YOU checked the tracking number yourself to see what it shows at USPS.com?

Quote: @westernsky - yes I have If the USPS tracking shows no acceptance scan then the item was never physically received at the post office. It sounds like it was snagged by an employee in the mail room that is gaming the system. I'd guess the theft occurred on the way to the post office. New employees have a knack for figuring out holes in the system and exploiting them.

I would be contacting ALL the proper authorities, be it the insurance company, bank, police, or attorneys, this is a crime! Good luck, I hope you at least get a refund, perhaps giving the dealer some free advertising might help?

Here' one scenario that can happen:
Let's say the bullion company is shipping 50 pkgs today. They'll spend a few hours getting everything packed up and labels printed for the SHIPMENT. They will also print up a SCAN form that will tie all 50 packages, along with their individual barcodes, to a master bar code. The company (mail room clerk) then loads the 50 packages into a vehicle and heads to the post office. On the way to the post office the dirty employee separates the package he wants to steal from the rest of the shipment and sets it aside. Once at the post office he loads up the now 49 packages, along with the SCAN form that shows 50 packages, and heads to the counter or to the call window. The PO clerk (or temp) accepts the 49 pkg SHIPMENT by scanning the SCAN form master barcode. (They do not bother to scan each package at this time and may not count the number of packages in the shipment) The USPS tracking will now update the individual packages from "label printed" to "Shipment Accepted". Once the individual 49 packages start moving thru the USPS sorting center, and are scanned, the individual packages will then show "PACKAGE accepted".
The missing 50th package is still in the vehicle with the thief but the tracking shows it as "Shipment Accepted"! Crazy!

This is terrible. They never learned saying, take care of your customers or someone else will. Sounds like they are losing a heavy hitter from their customer base, and maybe quite a few more if you can help it!

Always carefully read 'terms and conditions' before clicking. Might be a very expensive lesson otherwise.

Don't overlook that the post office has just not scanned the package and put it somewhere. We send out packages and we had one we took to our local Missouri post office but the tracking started in texas.
