I have a 1978 Lincoln Penny that caught my eye one day on my ever-lasting journey to find interesting coins. I have collected most of my life but just recently started learning the ins and outs of collecting. I don't know if what I see is an error or if it's nothing worth anything and need the assistance of the more knowledgeable. You'll see in the picture the edging from right above Lincolns head along to in front of his face is off. I'm unsure if I have something with this or if it's nothing. Please help confirm what I hope might be my first correct error. Thank you and the suspense is too much!
We always need both sides of your coin, and we need a sharp closeup or two of the problem area you mentioned. And too, please crop your photos to the edges of your cent, there's too much wasted space and the image will be larger.
I increased the size on my iPad to see what the " error" is and I think John 1 nailed it with Folded Over Rim Fin. You can research this for more info.
Welcome to CCF. Also look up misaligned die (MAD) and off center strikes. In either case it would be very minor based on what we can see. Keep posting your coins and asking questions.
