Hello I found this rather neat 1969 D dime awhile back and am uncertain if its an error or how something like this could even happen? It looks like someone soldered it but the reverse side bulges out as well but nothing like the front of the coin The D mint mark also looks a liitle strange. Any info would be great as I really know nothing about this stuff but would love to learn. thank you.

. Looks like heat damage to me. If solder it would weigh more than normal.

I'm thinking heat damage as well--perhaps from a hobby-grade butane torch.

I agree with heat damage, we have seen several of these on this site.
The D mm looks like it has taken a hit flattening it.

with heat damage here. There is no dent on the reverst to indicate a massive hit from behind. Could be solder but I'm not seeing any spattering one would expect from the dropping of molten metal nor is there any residue from the flux that is in solder.

The D mint mark also looks a little strange.

Yes part is a bit thicker. I don't think it is an RPM though--more likely is circulation flattening.

Bulged then flattened. Just a cull coin now. (face value)

I am also going to say heat damage. We see more blow-torched coins than expected here on CCF. This looks to be another one.
