Not an off centred strike, that is a MD ( misaligned die ) as it only affects one side. Does look like a floating roof.

Right, this is a mis-aligned die. The floating roof is due to excessive die polishing. to the CCF!

Looks to be floating to me too. A nice find—will you save it in a 2x2?

I'll put it in whatever it needs to be in to preserve the coin. 2x2 zip lock or? I've been at this almost a month so I'm very much a rookie.

Depending of the budget of every one, me I find that put in caps it is better. I pay attention that at least 48 h before put, the environment it is at 40% humidity and not more then 19 to 21 deg C.

The floating roof is a gimmicky name (in hopes of selling something common for a lot of money) given to what happens when dies are polished to prolong their life. These are not mint errors such as a doubled die or misaligned die error, but are more in line with common Grease Filled Die strikes or Machine Doubling.

Sorry to come with other post here.
In my lab we test many 2x2 from different sources and we find that ~90% has PVC and paper residues which are harmful to the coins. Thing better.

If you permit me to contradict EARLE,: Every thing you refer it is the old lexicon of the error and variety coins. The modern lexicon say very clear that the "die" category it is variety. I agree 100% with you that many use those names for big money. I think is up to us to fight against this war. Just think if us we are out of the business what will happened? More fake money then really. This wave of the wind is on our back. PS. With all due respect, in Texas if the roof of a building is hovering above w no support structure attached, must mean the roof is floating. Hence "Floating Roof" zero malice intended.
