What are you seeing that looks like an error?

Given the single, somewhat small photo posted, I'm seeing a common, well-circulated '85 D nickel--complete with some environmentally-caused discoloration/staining. Consider posting full, large and sharp images--obverse and reverse. That may tell us more. What is it that you are seeing that seems odd or curious?

There is a 44 on the cheek and the 5 looks a little messed up I am guessing the 44 was put there by someone but I wasn't sure

@bob, first welcome to CCF. Second, that 5 in the date is damaged. Your pic is a bit too blurry for me to see the potential counterstamp. Any chance of you posting a closeup of that area? Thx.

Look like an counterstamp 44. Damage 5 and T from liberty. Someone maybe can chime the red circle I do.

You really need to crop your pictures and make them larger.

Just coin damage. Incuse marks 99% of the time are just damage to a coin. How much damage ruins the coin to a true collector? On hit is too much. Now just a cull coin.
