Pretty good coin I think. This is from the PCGS website and a ms-68 Lincoln. So I should have stated this to begin with. I apologize, I guess my point was to show that ms-68 coins do not have to perfect. I guess it boils down to attractiveness then almost flawless. Edited by grospoisson 01/04/2022 6:52 pm

You posted two reverse pics. Edit: that's better. I have no experience grading USA coinage but I want to get better. I'll take a shot and say MS 65, is that a die crack running through Lincolns jacket? Also look like DDD on the back of the jacket, I want to guess a bit of a later die state. I wish I had access to nice old cent coins from the US. Most of my USA cents pre 1970 are in mid to low grades.

I could see MS66 with this one.

Is that a die crack on Lincoln's lower shoulder?

MS67+RD, and what you're doing isn't nice.

I've found with those high res images you can stand 6 ft back from your monitor it helps. The lighting they use illuminates every little flaw.
With this coin you can see it has a little of that wispy red toning and blazing luster. Only a couple light hits on the portrait and some very light, minor stains, strong strike and flawless wheat stalks - I can only see subtracting a couple of points. The shoulder is strong for the issue, they are often chewed up and incomplete... maybe the cracked die help it form better? That's a beauty, I agree with PCGS.

coin is overgraded. MS67RD would be the top end for me on this one.

I think these high grade coins have incredible luster and eye appeal, in hand. Giving them the extra grade.

I agree with BadThad 100 percent, in hand I bet you can't spot the flaws as easily. And I'm not sure I've ever actually seen the shoulder so well struck for the date, can actually see the design elements that are usually covered in planchet flaws.

Also, ms70 is reserved for flawless coins, this one has some flaws yes, but I would call it a technical ms67+...with a bump for that full strike, luster, and eye appeal.
