Trapped zinc rot gas that looks like arrowhead is my guess. Imagination at work on mask idea I think.

Looks like the die has been over polished. When the polisher affect the bays, it reduces the height of them making them shorter as the fields go away. (the bays are even with the fields, thus when reduced, the the columns will show then shorter in height. The statue devices are sub devices and also affected by this field reduction) So the statue was just a field alteration.
