Hi, Could anyone tell me if this is an error coin and if so what type. Still new to coin collecting and any information would be helpful. The back of the coin looks very different from all the other coins I found in circulation so far.

The reverse has been ground down, it is PMD
You can't have a rim only on one side.

Yes, post-strike damage of an aggressive nature. Not a mint error. Hang onto it as a fun curiosity.

From the looks of the reverse I assumed it was a bronze cent, but the grey spots under the Lincoln bust look like zinc peeking through. But if so, the reverse should be all zinc. Has it been painted?

Possible that they put a small washer on the reverse, when polishing it and that would explain why the center and the other devices are still there. And then polished of the washer.

Can you give us a nice, clear closeup of LIBERTY?

In any case it is a polish, grounded coin. I do not see numismatic interest or value.. Just a spender if possible.
