Hi, Could anyone tell me if this is an error coin and if so what type. Still new to coin collecting and any information would be helpful. The back of the coin looks very different from all the other coins I found in circulation so far.
From the looks of the reverse I assumed it was a bronze cent, but the grey spots under the Lincoln bust look like zinc peeking through. But if so, the reverse should be all zinc. Has it been painted?
Possible that they put a small washer on the reverse, when polishing it and that would explain why the center and the other devices are still there. And then polished of the washer.
And no it has not been painted it was extremely dirty when I found it I couldn't even see the front really so I cleaned it up with a toothbrush to see it better it was outside in a parking lot.
