I have been searching this coin up an down and I'm coming up with nothing comparable? I'm also new to this so any help on what exactly I have here is greatly appreciated!

@dgi, first welcome to CCF. Second, rather than having the appearance of being Struck Through Grease, this quarter looks like it has been pretty much worn out in circulation. Can you please add the weight of this coin to this thread? Thx.

Looks like a sanded coin. Note the rims are affected exactly like the obverse and reverse are affected. PSD.

looks like an 'ocean' coin. One that has spent time in bouncing around in the surf before it found its way to Pensy
