Whoops! They had a magnifier but it just isn't the same as a loop. I think this one might be a loss on value vs price paid depending on what you all think of grade.

I like the looks of it but, to your point, if LCS sold as full steps you may want to find another coin shop.

Tough to see the dings, phone photo? They're often compressed in a way that blurs coin surfaces, so the grade is only an estimate, from MS-64 to MS-67. I would call it 5 full steps, not 6. The 1940-S is tough in 6 full steps, and though I collect FS I don't have one.

I was not taking my time and rushed a bit. Only picked up a couple coins to test out their Jefferson's and pricing. This one only said 'steps' which should have been a red flag from the start but the magnifier looked ok. I thought it was MS65 and possibly ms66. Leaning toward ms66 as the strike is very strong and the surfaces look as good as the phone photos show. At $18 it was worth the gamble.

It is definitely not a full step tho.

Now I see that's a 40-D rather than 40-S. FWIW, I do have a 40-D in 6 FS, which means they're not super expensive. If yours turns out MS-66, non full step, IMO the $18 price was not a rip off.
Rest in Peace

MS-64 Not FS . Might even be reduced to MS-63 ,lots of small hits on building and steps . Sorry ,but you over paid .

This is why I never get too excited at a LCS! Always take it slow when starting a new series, especially in mint state. Lesson learned, again. Hope to post some winners next week!
