Hello everyone.
Canadian error coin collector here ... a friend has offered to sell me a $2 devil's face note with a serial number error. One of the numbers only half turned so you can see the bottom of the two and the top of the three. Since I am an error coin collector, I have no idea of value when it comes to banknotes. It is in poor condition with a lot of folds as you can see. Please give me an idea of what to offer him. Thanks in advance!

Most of the time with missing or partial serial numbers one needs to be graded for there to be good interest in this type of error. The problem with this note is the shape it"s in and grading would eat up most of it"s value, it"s what I call a flyer note like 40 bucks and if graded as an error maybe 200 bucks

According to Charlton, that would be worth about $160.00 graded.
What's he asking for it?

Correct typo

If he paid $200.00 for it, he overpaid.

It's a devil's face note and for that reason alone $200 is high but not unreasonable IMO.
There just aren't enough devil's face errors out there to meet demand.
If it were any other modern series it would fetch far less.
