I was just watching a video about this coin and happened to find it in my roll today. I'm still trying to get the hang of doubled dies. I've gotten a lot better and have read the forums on here about them but still not 100% sure on this one. Thank you. I know it's probably a long shot and not a doubled die.
Can't tell much from the one slightly soft and contrasty photo posted, other than it's not the famed DDO which has doubling that can be clearly seen with the naked eye. Hope to see full, large and sharp images of your coin--obverse and reverse. Thanks.
This coin, in no way shape or form, matches an existing doubled die but it does have some odd looking shapes to some of the devices, could just be the pic. Sharp, clear closeups of the date and LIBERTY would be great.
There were a lot of Machine Doubling on the 1968-1972 cents. So it is probably MD. The spread is a lot stronger on the read DDO that year. Forget looking at the dates, look at Liberty and The motto: Machine Doubling was convincing that 133 examples of MD was submitted to PCGS. All got slabbed as a normal coin. These are some of the images of those affected areas. If they look like that it is Machine Doubling.
