Ahh, thanks for the pics! This is a classic example of a collar clash error, and these I keep aside, since I don't see that many in the wild. I personally only have 2 that I ever found.

It is a 'collar' clash. the collar that holds the coin in place during the strike and makes the reeds on the edge. That wavy 'design' is from the die after it hit the collar and was imprinted with the reed design.

@hon, here is a link to the very excellent error-ref website to help continue your education about collar clashes.

You could check ebay sold items to get comps on a value, but I can't imagine that this coin is worth getting slabbed.

Technically this is considered a minor but still noticable error, but not really worth it getting it slabbed/graded (unless you want to), and can be worth a few bucks at most. Of course, the larger the error/issue, the more valuable it can become.

There are a lot of "errors" on coins that aren't worth a lot. This is one of them.

It's a nice oddity to add to ones collection, but I don't think it's worth the effort to sell

Not worth slabbing by a long shot and worth under a buck on the bay.IMHO.

Collar clashes on
Roosevelt dimes is a common occurrence. The coin is so small that an exact alignment is critical and (apparently) hard to achieve with these. I, myself have a few clashed dime (non of your year though).

thanks everybody,
but here's the thing, that its got not only the wavy deal on the edge but front and back have I not sure what you call it but the full coin is a error what is it called enamel clash or strike tru and doubling ? plus I was doing research and they said that that the 80's don't have a lot graded in good condition and its in pretty good condition you can see the lines pretty good on the torch. not arguing just learning and looking for knowledge

The advice you were given about grading is based on the fact that you will not be able to get the cost of grading back if you decide to sell it even considering all of the things you mention. The search for "good" condition coins would be the search for one that has none of the things you have on this one such as the die clash.

Grading: https://www.PCGS.com/photograde/
Value: http://www.numismedia.com/rarecoinprices/fmv.shtml
Value: check ebay sold values.
MS68 at a minimum, to justify all costs involved in slabbing.

The dies are affected when the outside edge of the die hits the collar, leaving the lines on the outside edge of the die:

This image is a retired die, note the design was removed off of the die) and you can see the clash lines on the outside edge of the die. Sometimes you can see these on off center strike on the coin.
