Could be a grease-filled die issue, or perhaps old vending machine damage

Looks like it is a Partially Filled Grease error.

Agree with the above. Again, would be beneficial if we could see full, large and sharp pics of the obverse and reverse. There may be other subtle issues with the coin that could tell a more complete story.

I would guess Struck Through Grease. Note how the area missing would be where the grease filled the die, and the wider base of the device is still there. So that is what I'm seeing. But also noting the rim is weak on the same area. So what is the weight? If close to normal all grease issue including the gutter. If the weight is light, it might be a tapered planchet? No image of the reverse to prove my theory.

I would say partial Grease Filled Die. The grease probably got pushed from the center to the rim which is why the strike is weak from k12 to k5
