messaged a seller and asked them prior to bidding if they could ship an item for way cheaper ($1-2) than the outrageous $6 for a $30 coin, they said yes. I won the auction, said they would charge me $6 anyway. Emailed the seller three times, hasn't responded in a week. What should I do? I certainly haven't paid. I think he/she just wants me to shut up and send the payment and hopes by ignoring me that I'll just pay up. That, or they happened to go on a vacation or something, which I doubt.

I don't know. That's a tough one. If I see any auction that seems to be overcharging on S&H I don't bid - even if the combined costs end up being a bargain. There's something about not supporting a mentality or approach I don't agree with. Some would say that by bidding, you agreed to the terms posted on the auction listing. The offer of a lower S&H rate may be seen as something "outside of ebay". So you could be stuck and have to complete the transaction. But, you do have a record of your agreement for a lower rate. I would try contact the seller again. -- Boris

I guess it depends on how long the auction has been over for...
In my experience, giving a seller time to make things right has often saved me some embarrassment later on. I wouldn't bother getting mad until at least a week after the auction closed.

Paypal $32.00 with the note about your agreement. Most likely the seller just sends you the coin. That's what I would do

what I would do is use the email he sent you that stated he would ship this item at a lower rate to reply for a updated invoice for this item and don't let him tell you that he can not do this. and everyday send him a email telling him that you are waiting for his reply don't pay for this item until this is settled. He can not leave you a negative but you can leave him one . to many ebay sellers are pulling a fast one lately. and save all email corresponce . you will not lose doing it this way.

I agree with norseman012.
I had a similar situation last week- seller said he'd lower shipping from $8 for one coin down to $3 and change it in his auction, after I contacted him twice. He then actually increased the shipping in his auction to $8.65. So I didn't bid. And the coin never sold either.

Also, always factor shipping into your bid price and also look for the terms on insurance- some sellers are slipping in extra charges for insurance on their invoices and it's in the fine print of their auction.

Emailed two more times, no response. I have a figure that this seller is ignoring me because they have listed new items.

Left negative feedback, had enough of the seller ignoring me. If they come back later with a convincing argument that it was some kind of emergency, I will remove it, but I doubt that.
