Took a chance on this ebay purchase that the obverse clash was not incuse, which it isn't but I don't know what die design is showing up as a clash, or for that matter, how the clash got there. Any insights?

Also purchased to have as sample for Longacre doubling on the Obverse in United States, unless this is a true DDO, which I could not identify. Help appreciated as always!

Very nice pick-up @shan. I agree that this looks like Longacre doubling.

As to the clash, using an overlay is the best way to confirm what you are seeing, but it looks to me like the edge of the oak leaf wreath from the rev.

For some reason the clash just does not look right? Almost like a different design...too spikey to match the roundness of the wreath?
Does the weight match up?
It's in beautiful condition. I would have probably bid on it myself.
Look fwd to what others have to say.

Looks like an offset double die clash with the reverse. I had an 1863 that had it on the reverse.

Very cool coin! I agree with JerryPicker, a double die clash with one being offset.

The reverse die looks like a new fresh die replacement. (not involved with the previous die clash. The other reverse die may have broken during the clash?
