Hello again!

Came across this abnormality whilst searching coins for errors.

1953-S-Lincoln-Cent---Repunched-Mint-Mark-/-Machine-Doubling?

What do y'all think?

Which one is the real 'S'?

Is it Repunched? Machine Doubling? Deteriorated Doubled Die? or something else?

Thank you for the quick response levelsofmadnes.

It does look very similar to RPM-002.

Are you kidding me right now?! After what feels like endless searching, are you saying I found something other than Machine Doubling or Deteriorated Doubled Dies?

Finally! My first "real find" I'm ecstatic. Woohoo! I want to thank my mom, dad, math teacher...LOL

On a serious note, it truly does feel good to find something other than MD or DDD.

Thank you for the positive identification there levelsofmadnes, I appreciate it!

Wow, so pretty, those are some extremely high-quality pictures! I wonder what type of camera/microscope that person used. I think it would be something good to invest in long-term.

My potato microscope/camera will do for now, lol. Thanks for sharing uber high-quality pics coop! Also, thank you for the congrats QuarterHoarder72, and thank you for the compliment CoinHI.

It takes a lot of word to create these. Ray does an excellent example with these. They are nice to see that it is not just an incuse on the coin that makes it a variety.
But the shape of the whole area, shows that it is a RPM,

He mentioned it took like 26 images to morph into a single image. So it is time consuming, but it trains the eyes on what to look for. Not the surface contact marks that are incuse from the coin contact, but what is at the base up on a die variety or what Machine Doubling is, just an alteration of the devices, post strike.

CoopHome: How do images train our eyes. We need to see what we are missing on view images, and knowing what to look for, helps train the eyes.

Pictures 9 and 10, I would've mistaken that 4 for just a "hit" and circulation wear. Now I know better.

I see, machine damage actually reduces the size of the devices...

Thank you for the trove of images, coop. I'm learning and being exposed to a wealth of information. I'm not just looking at the images, I'm reading the texts and contemplating and assimilating the info. Keep up the good work with your quality replies and comments!
