This coin was graded ms-63 red by numistrust . When I posted about it months ago everyone told me to leave well enough alone. Can't get in PCGS holder without doing something. I may have made a mistake with this one. Guess? Remember pictures are very very high magnification so things get blown out of proportion. Edited by grospoisson 03/02/2022 12:42 pm

Hard to tell which marks are on the holder and which ones are on the coin. I'd say 63RD tops. You certainly have an expensive way of educating yourself.

64 red would not surprise me at all. If so, you have been very lucky. Don't push your luck. You play the game long enough you will eventually lose more than you'll win.

I thought about that with scratches on holder and I don't know of a better way to teach myself. My circumstances are unique. And Yes it's expensive a few thousand dollars for sure. But once you have the education no one can take it from you. I am in education and have experience with that. Most on forum enjoy watching the game (and that's fine) I prefer to play in the game. It's the rush and challenge I enjoy. I really am glad (and I mean that) that you try to keep me in check. It keeps me from going off the deep end. please continue helping me on my quest. You, TBop. Badthad, pandalzi all try to give me good advice and several others . Westernsky, Kycopper coop teache me. How many crappy pictures and things you look at with no chance of being anything of value? Just newbies trying to learn.

Too much chatter on this coin to grade more than MS-63RD . BTW, I don't condone the way you go about pleasing yourself with all of your resubmitting's and submitting's for that matter . But again just trying to help out a fellow collector .

Correct. A whole lot of chatter.
I think it will still get a 64RD.

But again just trying to help out a fellow collector . And you have helped me a great deal. I think I may have been unclear about some of these coins. All the older coins I have, were purchased between 2000 and 2005.after joining PCGS last summer all I hear from them is that PCGS slabbed coins have more value by far, then any other TPG. I did some homework on the subject, and it seems sellers want more for their PCGS slabbed coins than other slabbed TPG's. so I drank the cool aid and submitted all my slabbed coins not in a PCGS slab. I also did not try to cross them over. I submitted 24 different dates before thanksgiving of memorial coins. All the new coins you are seeing are yet to be submitted but will be. I have paid less for my own ms-66 memorials than I would have purchasing them one at a time. I have never resubmitted a coin in my life or asked for a regrade (not out of the question though). Since November I have submitted five coins. I will submit several in the coming weeks. Most ms-67 memorials from 1959 to 1983 are as pricey as the 50's wheats and most 40's. Since I don't have to rely on a jeweler's loupe now that I have better equipment. My selection to submit has dropped significantly. I always appreciate your insight, but I am on a mission and can't seem to stop. Thanks for helping and guiding me. hope you keep me grounded.

For some reason, the most important thing to me was to have the 1912 upgrade from a ms-63 red to 64 red. The coin looks better not magnified 30 times. I have trouble with color but I thought this one was correct. Maybe I am slowly learning.

Your learning process - essentially spending $40 or more to have PCGS grade your instinctive hunches, and then asking for our comments, claiming you won't make the same mistake twice - seems an unending folly. With respect, you have more money than sense.

With respect, you have more money than sense. I post coins out of curiosity and thought you guys enjoyed giving opinions on them. It doesn't seem like much respect at all. I have submitted maybe sixty coins in all at 17 or twenty two dollars a coin plus the insurance and shipping which by the way is not on every coin. for 24 coins I shipped PCGS sent an invoice for 445 dollars from that submission I received a ms-67 1974-s 550 dollars a 1982SDC ms-67 225 dollars, a 1978-d ms-67 at 250 dollars. What is bothering you guys ? I want a Lincoln set as far back as I can afford of ms-66 Lincolns of my choosing. I have never once told anyone else how to assemble their desired set. To be fair to me go to ebay and find any copper coin 1982 and before and then try to assemble a set of ms-66. A lot of years aren't even listed. Remember you have 20 dollars per coin to do it. You guys have my best interests at heart, I believe that. Regardless I am going to submit coins until I complete my set. I am still hoping you guys say yea or ney on the coins I post . Last thing it doesn't take 40 years to learn what ms-67 coin looks like. Simple really, strong strike no marks great luster can't go wrong with this advice. I believe you are telling me these things because you don't want me wasting money

can you give us at least 24hr prior to posting slab? 48 is better.
the coin is nicely struck on both sides. minor chatter on the shoulder. just a little too much on the obverse fields particularly in front of the profile and under LIBERTY. the reverse has some minor marks/scuffs but would still be in 64 range. the color is tough to judge. I thought it was RB based on the photos. I had the coin at MS63+RB but I'm ok with 64RD as they may have added 1/2pt for strike.
