I bought this guy the other day from my coin store for a buck, and noticed it had a really gunmetal color that seemed to absorb light and not reflect it. I've honestly never seen a black beauty in person, and idk if pictures would help any of you on your end either. I'm just wanting opinions on if it is a black beauty, what grade would you put it at and where are good places to sell raw error coins like this (I have an 1888/7 IHC VG25 that's burning a hole in my pocket. Thanks in advance!

Impossible to tell from those photos, they look more gold than black.
Will need to see pictures with actual colour.
Black Beauties are caused from improper annealing and even with good
photos are hard to distinguish
Rest in Peace

To CCF , from your photos I can assure you it's not a Black Beauty nor is it full uninterrupted steps . Grade is approximately AU-58 .

Ok T-Bop, in your infinite wisdom would you mind elaborating? Because I'm pretty sure it is based on everyone I've seen online. They aren't black usually until the grade starts to decline.

CoinFrog What about places to sell raw my 1888/7 IHC. Because I've been told I can't sell on here with so few posts. Thanks.

Unsure of the 'black beauty' assessment. Grade appears to be AU55-ish to me. While portions of steps are intact, they are beat up. Partial steps would be accurate.

to me it looks more like environmental toning than an annealing issue, not full steps

Sorry , it just doesn't display the correct gun metal darkish color from the photos you provided .
Also all grades of a B/B's have the same color .
