Petepockets and tropical bats I know you found one had a dsicussion of a 1944 Wheat cent. Here's my 2020 shield cent with a attached rim burr. Not struck thru I believe

No I think that's after strike scrape. If it was before, the zinc would not show. It would have been plated.

Oh okay yea that makes sense. But I've seen similar with the rim missing like this and the piece of rim actually being struck thru on the coin. So this one didn't get taken off completely what ever you would call it when it entered the striking chamber

As others have already said, this is PMD. The exposed zinc proves this is not a rim burr.

Couldn't this have been bent after the strike in circulation but still be an attached rim burr?
Like a delamination that was repositioned after strike is still a delamination.
Could explain the zinc exposure?

Probably damaged when ejected from the machine or in the pallet. But a great image to show what this type of damage is.

To me this looks like it happened after the strike.
It doesn't appear to be struck into the surface of the coin.

Yes Cujohn, and it could be the case that it is post strike but still a mint made error.
My point is nobody suggested my coin was damaged yet consensus is that this coin is damaged.
If the OP hasn't tossed this back in the wild, I would trade for it and start a 2020 P Collar sheer rim burr set :)
