Hello CoinCommunity, this is my first post! I just got into coin collecting and I thought I'd contribute my favorite error I've found in pocket change. Nice clear 1987 Denver RPM. Looks like some doubling on the 87 as well, you can feel it with your nail.
Welcome. But that is not a RPM. That is split plating A lot of these cents have that same split plating issue. The way to tell the difference is that on the split plating coins, you can see the gray from the zinc under the plating. Even Real RPMs' can show this. But on your coin their is no evidence of a second punching. Just the split plating issue. Not a keeper. It in time will go away. If acid comes in contact with the zinc, it happens a lot faster.
FourFiveFive, to CCF. Your coin is not a D/D,it would be referred to as an RPM= re punched mint mark. Your coin has split copper plating making look like an extra D. Also, it would not be an error,it would be a variety. John1
