I think these photos might be hiding something. They seem very washed out. The coin looks MS but not sure if it was cleaned. The horizontal scratches by the date make me think it was. MS details, cleaned IMHO.

Light rub visible on Liberty's cheek, forehead, and hair. Hits by I in LIBERTY and on the shield aren't bad. Hairlines around the date seem minor, not really enough to detail the coin. Luster mostly intact across the fields. I'm at AU-58 on this one. Not scarce but a hefty chunk of gold to add to your stash.

Unfortunately I'm at AU details. My eyes were immediately drawn to the hairlines about the date.

AU58 Details. I personally find the scratches around the date distracting.

i just have a question for all those thinking those hairlines are cleaning marks. please explain how someone can use something to clean the coin in that tight area without crossing over the date, rims or lower rim of the bust?

Scratches around the date and big hit on the shield now make this AU Details for me also.

I believe the scratches do cross over the date and lower bust. If you look in between the date numerals, there are no hairlines. So someone could've easily taken a rough surface and rubbed it across the date area, but not reaching the tight spaces. If they were die polishing lines, then the scratches would be seen between the numerals. Numismatic student will have to affirm that because he is the only one who has the coin in hand.

I'm going to assume it straight grades and would expect a MS62 at least. Quite possibly MS63.
