Thanks for the comments. It was the only real variety I found out of the latest bag of 2500 LWC. Only paid 3cents a piece for them so I'm happy with it.

If you went through 2500 wheat cents, found that one, and didn't find any others - you're missing something.

On average I find one listable RPM or doubled die in every two rolls, and this particular variety is so obvious most people pull it out before the coins get to me. I only find one of these out of every one thousand or so rolls.

So logic dictates that if I find a die variety in nearly every roll, and I find one of these in every thousand rolls, the same would be true for anyone else. So given that you went through 50 rolls, you should have found at least 20-25 decent RPMs or doubled dies and you got lucky to find this one.

Moral to the story - keep looking, and pull out anything that looks like a doubled die or RPM. You may get lucky!

It was the first RPM I've found. I got a bag of 1200 circulated wheat cents and found that one. Then I looked a second time (yes all 1200) and found two different RPMs that time. The other times I search the same lot I don't remember how many, but the point is to recheck yourself when you are first looking for varieties. It takes a while to get the eye train as to what to look for.

USMClion:

Nice RPM!

Coop:

Totally agree- that's how I found some of my RPM's- Went thru all the rolls of wheatbacks I had originally checked and wrapped , and re-checked them again very carefully the second time around, year by year, against Chuck's site (coppercoins)

*Thanks again for your site Chuck!*
