I am brand new to this formum but have been collecting varieties and errors for years. I found this coin in a new roll of 1995D pennies. On the Obverse Lincoln appears to have a spear going from 2 oclock through the middle of his forehead and ends at the back of his head. The reverse has similiar clashes through the cents with awhat almost looks like an arrow coming out the botton of the C. Have pretty good pictures but will scan soon to show it better. Anyone have any thoughts on this one. I know the bison spear is hot but this one is almost eerie as it starts about where Lincoln was shot in the head. here's the pics. Thanks in advance. Jaime

to the forum. As you may know these were zinc, plated with copper. What you have is a separation of the plating probably a bubble from gases.

Thank you for answering. The spear looks more like it came from a gouge or crack in the die. It is very uniform and boldest in his head. It's harder to see it in the field with these pics but it is very apparent under 10x mag.

WOW ikandiggit That was awesome. I checked it under the mag with toothpick and it's not a bubble as far as I can tell.

I found a mark similar to this the other day, so I dug it out for an image. The planchet may have been ruffed up a little. The rolling lines are in the same direction of the raised area. I don't think it is anything having to do with the die, more of a planchet issue or gas under the plating.

If it were a die issue more examples would be found. It would be interesting to see what Mike Diamond call this?

I'm pretty sure it isn't a bubble of gas under or it would be able to be depressed with a toothpick. The line os hard and feels solid. Wish I knew. A collector friend of mine today looked at it and he thinks it is a die gouge or crack. I still don't know. Thanks for responding.
