Not sure what this is. It's like a chip but it's reversed like the die had crud on it or something. Not sure if the scrapes are related or if it's just normal PMD. Any ideas?

and would appear to have went deep in the die and took a chunk out of the field. That's a good one!

Interesting. I would have thought damage like that would have made it through the clad layer but I'm new to all this so thanks for the insight!

This coin is not clad but a zinc planchet plated with copper and the damage was not to the actual coin but the die that made the coin. There will be bunches of coins that look just like this.
