Have a 1971 S penny and it looks like a D under the S but because I don't have a microscope it's hard to tell. I'm using my phone and a lens so I cant get any closer or more of the pic or it's too big to upload sorry! Just wondering what you all see& Also if you see doubling...Thanks!

Your looking into the areas where die wear happens. Meaning it is just the die wearing out. Nothing there but imagination.
