I have an 1953 no mint mark silver penny. It is a little magnetic and weighs 3.3grams. Any thoughts on why it is silver? The cion looks way better then the pics. So shinny.

. It was more than likely plated after it left the mint.

To me, that suggests that it is nickel plated.

It was very common to plate cents to make jewelry years ago.
