Ok although I am still new idetifying die events. This one has me stumped I took many pictures to get a good look to everyone over the whole event. I am trying to determine if this is a die event or PMD. Portions of the event look raised and others do not. Thank you.

Not a die crack,it is a scratch on the coin.

I can definitely see it being a scratch but it did not look like all of this mark was into the coin several portions look like they are raised.

It looks raised because some of the metal was displaced when the sharp object scraped across the surface.

When you plow a furrow in the ground, the dirt gets moved upward and outward to the sides. Same with scratching a coin.

You could take a piece of fresh aluminum foil and a wide paint brush and place the shiny side up on the foil over the coin. Push the bristles on to the foil and you will see the raised area on the shiny side, the incuse areas on the dull side of the foil. The incuse area on the scratch will be incuse on the shiny side and you will see the trench on that side. The raised metal that rise above the fields.

Then compare that with another die crack, then you will see the differences. A die crack on the die, leaves a void and the coins struck with that die will show a raised area.

The deeper the crack goes into the die, the wider the crack will become.
