This one seems to be on a slow boat somewhere. No indication as to when it will arrive.

I've been promising some in-hand evaluations of these new acquisitions and have been far behind that with a crazy work schedule right now. Hope to find time this weekend to honor those commitments.

The sharp difference between the obverse and reverse and relative lack of marks in the hair make me wonder if this could be a casino coin.

I raise this, because there is at least some risk it could come back with a 98 code. If it straight grades, I'll join the MS-61PL crowd.

EDIT: I agree, regardless of technical grade or a code, it's still a fantastic coin for the VAM.

EDIT EDIT: My wife reminded me of the 1892-S casino coin I sent in a few years back. It was rougher than this one, but would have been on the 50/53 bubble if it straight graded. They caught it and shipped it back with a 98 code. It was like trying to sneak the sun past a rooster, but I thought it had an outside shot at a straight grade. This coin is definitely nicer, and has a much better shot. Last edit, I promise.
