1922 Peace Is This Double Die Or Just Damage?

I was looking at this coin today and was wondering if that is doubling on the date, nose and neckline or just damage?

Judging from its placement along the neck I'd say damage. If it were a DD or even MD the double would follow the design up to the face instead of only half

The neckline appears to be post-mint damage. The date doubling is real, but is mechanical. This was very common on the 1922 Peace dollar. Still interesting to have.

Seated, I have heard that comment also and read it several places...have you ever read as to why 1922 was such a problem? I have a couple of those also, they are very common.
