In what way is that 1999 Kiwi 5 cent an upset coin. Looks fairly typical to me.

When saying an 'upset' coin I think that MachinMachinMan is referring to a rotated die.

Yes, that is what I mean.

Shouldn't the coin be orientated so that the tide-line is level on the reverse and the point of the queen's crown is at 12 o'clock on the obverse?

Day 26

Searched through a $100 bag of 5c coins. That's 2000 coins so surely there would be a 1972 amongst them...

There were only 163 Machin effigy coins (1966-1984) and none had 1972 on them.

Only Australian finds of interest were a change-over and 3 2019 JCs.
The-Big-Noodle:-Australian-5-Cent-Coins

Luckily some foreign finds kept things relatively interesting

Among a dozen kiwi 5c coins was a very nice 1985

You don't often see George VI in circulation around here

The search continues...

Total number of 5 cent coins noodled: 4400
Number of different coins found: 57
Number of coins still to find: 1

:The foreign coins are a nice surprise to noodle for your eyes now and then. Surely you will get the 72 in the next batch.

Yes it's all a matter of luck. It seems the more you want to find a coin the longer it takes.

When you find the first one the second will show up right after that, good luck.

Usual half a dozen kiwi 5c and none of them were even a 1972.

Total number of 5 cent coins noodled: 5400
Number of different coins found: 57

That 1972 is elusive alright, I have 3 spares - if you honestly can't get one - I will send you one.

The scarce NZ 5 cent is 1973, with just 1 million minted.
